True Godly
parenting is taking responsibility for the Christian
education of your own children. The Church/Pastor
(Confirmation class) is just here to help and facilitate
this process. The Catechism is actually not an easy thing
to understand all the time. You will be blessed to spend
even a fraction of time helping your child with the issues
of faith in the Catechism than you might usually spend on
sporting events.
Sermon Reports: two/month - Moms and Dads: discuss the
sermon on the way home from church. If you need to review
it, some of the sermons are at the church web site.
Look for the Confirmation Schedule and notes at the church
web site, or please give me a call if you have ANY
questions! I would LOVE to talk with you! DON'T come to
class saying you didn't know what was due!
Please give me your email address if I don't have it so I
can keep you up to date if there are any changes to the
schedule!
Further note: I do always hope and pray that more young
people might come to Confirmation classes and activities.
If there are friends who would like to join in, please
invite them! They are always welcome!
SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER:
September 15: Parent/Student night
Assignment for the wk: Read a Matthew Chapter every night
(preferably with mom or dad)
write down: What is the most amazing thing that you read?
What is a question you have about the chapter?
Name one promise that Jesus makes to us in that chapter?
September 22: We will share about our readings and get an
intro to the Catechism.
Assignment for the 28th: Do a bit of research and write a
short essay (a couple paragraphs max) on Martin Luther. On
Sept. 28th you will present it before you get your pizza!
You can write about anything you find interesting about
Martin Luther. Best essays get printed in the newsletter!
September 28 (Sunday): Pizza / Movie Night! "Martin Luther"
(no class on Monday)
October 6th: Class on the First Article of the Apostle's
Creed
Assignment Due: Quiz on questions 86-95
October 13th: Class on the First Article of the Apostles
Creed
Assignment Due: Quiz on questions 97-113
October 20th: Class on the Second Article of the Apostle's
Creed
Assignment Due: Quiz on questions 114-124
October 26th (Sunday): Miller's Orchard Christian Youth
Night (bring a few bucks to get in!)
October 27th: no class
